While we offer prompt and courteous service, timely delivery of chemicals, and help with all of your treating challenges and questions, the following are some of the specific services we provide outlined in detail:
Monitoring of Sulfate Reducing Bacteria
Sulfate Reducing Bacteria, or SRB’s as they are commonly known, reduce the sulfur in the oil to the sulfide radical which combines with H2S or hydrogen sulfide. Since this is a deadly poisonous gas and because it reacts with the iron in your system to form FeS, iron sulfide, it is important to you to get rid of these bacteria as soon as they appear in your system. By taking culture samples on a monthly basis and incubating them for thirty days, Chemical Consultants can warn you should these bacteria appear in your system and help you eliminate them quickly by recommending an appropriate treatment.
Monitoring of Corrosion Rates Using Coupons
Sacrificial coupons are placed in your system and “pulled” (removed) on a quarterly basis. If there are any signs of corrosion, they are taken to our lab, weighed and the weight loss reported as mils per year (mpy). The API allows up to 4.0 mpy but at Chemical Consultants we aim for half that loss as an acceptable rate in most systems. If there is no noticeable pitting or weight loss, the coupon is put back in service and only visually inspected. However, on a biannual basis the coupon is weighed regardless of appearance.
Monitoring of Scaling Tendencies through Water Analyses
This service is usually offered when first surveying a field to determine if calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and/or calcium sulfate (CaSO4) is a potential problem in your system. However, should your system undergo a dramatic change as in a water flood situation, a new water analysis with scaling tendencies would be done.
Prompt Response to “Bad Oil”
With a great deal of production being trucked out, or in the case of a LACT unit being in operation, timely response to bad oil calls is imperative in our region. Chemical Consultants pride themselves on our rapid response time to these calls.
